Fraunhofer Fokus

5G test network for KRITIS

Fraunhofer FOKUS has designed and implemented a private 5G campus network at the Otto Lilienthal research airfield in Schönhagen (Brandenburg) in collaboration with partners. The manufacturer-independent network is based on Fraunhofer FOKUS' Open5GCore. As a powerful test environment for the further optimisation of 5G campus networks for critical infrastructures, it enables, for example, the parallel operation of multiple networks. In live connections to the airport, we demonstrate how the campus network can be used to avoid drone collisions and detect objects on the runway.

MCX & radio network validation

Together with its project partner HMF Smart Solutions, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is demonstrating 3GPP-compliant mission-critical services (MCX), such as MCPTT and MCVideo, over 5G campus networks. Uncomplicated validation and error analysis are essential, especially when setting up such MCX networks at short notice in crisis situations. To this end, a smartphone app is being demonstrated that performs this validation and troubleshooting quickly, easily and in a documentable manner.
