PMRExpo 2025, the leading European trade fair for Secure Communications, is being staged in Cologne from 25 to 27 November. With the exhibition, the PMRExpo Summit, the Connecting Area and the new accompanying symposium "PMRExpo meets Wehrtechnik" on the topic of drone and cyber technology, it offers a unique forum for knowledge transfer and networking in the field of secure mission and business-critical communications. Over the three days of the trade fair, more than 260 national and international companies will present their products and solutions.
5G campus networks are advancing the digital transformation. They provide an outstanding thematic focus of PMRExpo 2025. In the "5G Hub for Private Networks", exhibitors will also demonstrate in 2025 live how private 5G networks are redefining networked applications in aviation, production, mobility, logistics and critical infrastructures. Visitors will experience real-world scenarios and technological innovations that boost efficiency, flexibility and security while maintaining full data sovereignty. The "5G Hub for Private Networks" deals with the following areas of focus:
- 5G campus networks – networking at a new level, Maximum security with private 5G networks,
- Smart manufacturing with 5G: the future of networked production,
- Efficient intralogistics with private 5G networks,
- immersion without delay –at 5G level as well as Smarter control of drones – with private 5G networks.

Accompanying specialised programme on 5G in the Connecting Area on the first day of the trade fair
An accompanying specialised programme entitled "Private 5G live - solutions for networked security and digital sovereignty" will take place with free admission on the stage in the Connecting Area on the first day of the fair, Tuesday, 25 November, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Connecting Area is also the central networking platform of PMRExpo and invites to an exchange of knowledge and networking with high quality experts extending beyond the lecture programme.
Panel discussions and best practice lectures
The 5G panel "Resilient networks for government and the economy" will take place in the form of a panel discussion with, among others, Jochen Abel, Vice President Enterprise Business of Nokia, Dr Christoph Bach, CTO Mission Critical of Ericcson GmbH, Uwe Hoppenz from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), Murat Mutlu, Currenta Conneqtive, as well as Dr Martin Kasperick from Airpuls.
In the 5G panel "Mobile broadband networks", the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) will introduce a whitepaper. The subsequent panel discussion on various aspects of the panel theme will be held with Dr Christof Bach, Ericsson, Dr Marc Engelmann, Fraunhofer FOKUS, and Marc Emmelmann, Technische Universität Berlin. The third panel is entitled "Regulation & allocation of frequencies". Here, Prof. Bernd Sörries, WIK Consult, will address the regulatory perspectives of 5G, among other topics. He will discuss, for example, future 5G frequency needs of mobile phone network operators, the perspectives of private 5G networks and nomadic networks.
The 5G day in the Connecting Area ends between 5:45 and 6:00 p.m. with a summary of the findings.
A get-together will start in the Connecting Area at 6:00 p.m. The guests are invited to cold drinks and Currywurst (also veggie) – sponsored by telent GmbH and UPLINK Network GmbH.
