Martin Schelleis joined the German Armed Forces in 1978, studied economics and organizational sciences, and became a combat pilot and flight instructor on TORNADO. After several assignments in NATO and the Federal Ministry of Defense, as commodore of Fighter-Bomber Wing 33 and two deployments in Afghanistan, Sch. served as commanding general of the Air Force Command, national territorial commander, and most recently, until May 2024, as inspector of the Armed Forces Base. Since August 2024, Sch. has been honorary Federal Commissioner for Crisis Resilience, Security Policy, and ZMZ of the Maltese Order.
