Jürgen Setzer

Major General Jürgen Setzer joined the German Armed Forces in 1980 and studied computer science. He completed German and US general staff training and held leadership and staff positions at nearly every level. During this time, he served multiple tours in the Balkans and Afghanistan. Since 2018, Major General Jürgen Setzer has been Deputy Inspector of Cyber and Information Space (CIR) and Chief Security Officer of the German Armed Forces (CSOBw), and since October 2025 he has also been Commander of CIR Troops (Befh CIRTr).
