The Cologne Fair Grounds (Koelnmesse) are located right in the heart of the city and can be conveniently reached on foot, with the local public transport system, or by car, train or plane via airport Cologne/Bonn.

How to get there

Access by car

Several highways lead to Cologne. From Düsseldorf it is only a 35 minutes drive, from Frankfurt about 90 minutes. To reach the fair grounds just  follow the green signs "Koelnmesse".

Depending on your car navigation system, please enter "Messeplatz 1", "Deutz-Mülheimer Strasse" or "Barmer Strasse" as destination.

On 1st January 2008, Cologne’s downtown area was declared an “environmental zone”. This means that only vehicles sporting one of the stickers for Emissions Groups 2 to 4 are allowed to enter the downtown area.

The Koelnmesse exhibition centre will remain accessible for all types of vehicles, even if they do not bear one of the aforementioned stickers.

The attached graphic shows all of the routes for driving to and from the exhibition centre.

However, only vehicles that bear the pertinent sticker will be allowed to drive outside of these routes (to get to downtown Cologne, for example).

Arriving by plane

Koelnmesse can be reached by direct flights via Cologne/Bonn Airport or Duesseldorf International from a large number of European destinations.

You can reach the fair grounds in approx. 15 minutes either by tram line S-13 (to station "Köln Messe/Deutz") or by taxi.

Public Transport

Thanks to its central location in the heart of Europe, Cologne Fair Grounds can be quickly reached from many cities in Germany and other countries by train. Many Eurocity and Intercity trains stop at the train station "Messebahnhof Köln-Deutz", situated directly opposite of the South Entrance. For schedule information please check with www.bahn.de

You can easily reach Cologne Fair Grounds using the well-developed local public transport network. You reach your destination quickly and help to protect the environment. All key destinations in the city can be reached within a maximum of 10 minutes by public transport.
